Volunteer Group Spotlight: KW Advisors East Bay Making a Difference on RED Day

At Lake Merritt Institute, we host many wonderful groups and appreciate our annual volunteers that come out to make a difference in our community.  We noticed KW Advisors dedication and wanted to learn more about their annual volunteer event.

Lake Merritt Institute (LMI): Thank you KW Advisors East Bay for volunteering with us again this year. Can you tell us what RED Day is and how long it has been a part of Keller Williams’ tradition?

KW Advisor Team: RED Day is a special tradition at KW since 2009, where every second Thursday of May, our agents, leaders, and associates come together to give back. It’s a day dedicated to stepping away from our daily routines to Renew, Energize, and Donate, making a positive impact in our communities.

LMI: How many volunteers participated this year, both locally and globally?

KW Advisor Team: This year, Keller Williams Advisors from our offices in Oakland, Alameda, Castro Valley, and Berkeley had over 50 volunteers participating. On a global scale, more than 100,000 Keller Williams agents took part in community service projects.

LMI: It’s inspiring to hear about such a wide-reaching effort. Could you share some details about the specific projects you worked on this year?

KW Advisor Team: This year, we focused our efforts on Lake Merritt in Oakland. Lake Merritt is a central part of our community, known for its beautiful natural environment and cultural significance. We engaged in various activities, including cleaning up the park, planting new greenery, and organizing community activities. Our goal was to enhance the area and bring people together, celebrating the diversity and vibrancy of Oakland.

LMI: Lake Merritt is indeed a special place. What made focusing on Lake Merritt particularly significant for your team?

KW Advisor Team: Lake Merritt is often referred to as the heart of Oakland. It’s a place where nature, culture, and community intersect, making it an ideal location for our efforts. By dedicating our time and resources to this vital area, we aimed to support and uplift the diverse people, environment, and ecosystem that make Oakland unique. Our commitment to Lake Merritt reflects our dedication to building a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable community for everyone.

LMI: Thank you for your time and dedication to making a difference.  We look forward to having you again next year!
